Approved: Nic. Christiansen Group acquires Ford in Denmark
Nic. Christiansen Group has now received the competition authority’s approval of the pur-chase of Ford Motor Company A/S. Thus, the car group from Kolding will take over the im-port and distribution of Ford in Denmark in the first quarter of 2025.
With the acquisition, Nic. Christiansen Group significantly expands its portfolio within personal vehicles and especially commercial vehicles. Ford is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of commercial vans, and through recent years, the tradition rich American brand has intensified its focus on the development of top modern electrical vans. And with the Nic. Christiansen Group, CEO Niels Vrist Bertelsen looks forward to making commercial vehicles an area that the group will focus even more on.
“Ford is one of the most well-known, tradition rich and popular brands in the world and fits perfectly in our portfolio. Ford provides us with an even wider range of personal vehicles and large opportunities with vans. Considering Ford’s strong position in the market of commercial vehicles, the brand will play a central role in the electrification of corporate mobility. We see great perspectives in this and look forward to contributing to it,” he says, and elaborates:
“Nic. Christiansen Group has contributed to the distribution of electrical cars to the Danes. With the acquisition of Ford, we will focus strongly on electrifying the Danish vans. It is a very exciting task for us because the portfolio of electric vans that Ford is distributing toe the markets in the next years is extremely strong. Our target is clear: Our ambition is to further expand Ford’s strong position within commercial vans and take a market share of 25 per cent,” Niels Vrist Bertelsen says.
Among other things, Nic. Christiansen Group expects the electric Ford E-Transit with a WLTP range of above 400 kilometers to play a large role in the electrification of commercial vehicles in the years to come.
”It is natural that the green transition begins to expand within commercial vans, which until now, have been a little behind the development within personal vehicles. For E-Transit and other exciting models on their way to the Danish businesses, the majority match the driving patterns of the Danish business world. Here, high quality and good range is combined with an attractive pricing. Corporate needs can easily be solved with electric vans, and we are convinced that we will see this in the coming years’ sales development,” says Niels Vrist Bertelsen and emphasizes that the ambitions with Ford’s personal vehicles are also high.
“The very reviewed Ford Explorer is a really relevant car for the target group, and I see good opportunities for it in the market. We look forward to the task a lot,” Niels Vrist Bertelsen says.
When the acquisition is carried through, Ford Motor Company A/S will change its name to NCG Motor Company and continue to handle the import and distribution of Ford in the Danish market. Frank Skjærbæk Pedersen will continue in the company as Country Director.
